Towards sustainable solutions: The design, application, and future of soft robotics in rehabilitation applications
Date: 3 April,
Time: 8.30-12.30
Location: Marina Bay Sands Conference Centre, Room: Orchid 4211
Abstract
Soft robotics hold the potential to make significant impacts on healthcare systems, providing scalable and sustainable solutions around the world. Recent advancements and research have translated into developments related to robotics supporting assessment, rehabilitation, assistance and augmentation of remaining capabilities and enhancing human movement and physical abilities. These devices can be found in the form of wearable soft exoskeletons or exosuits, robotic soft prosthetics, and smart connected gloves, to name a few examples. Implementing these devices in clinics can help ease the burden on our healthcare systems and promote increased health-related assistance through continuum of care models once persons return home.
This workshop aims to present exciting recent developments in soft robotics for rehabilitation applications. We will take the opportunity to bring together international researchers from various backgrounds (research, clinical, industrial) to discuss ongoing developments in soft robotics related to healthcare applications, try out promising technological developments in an interactive session, and identify ways to promote the next generation of these soft robots.
