Jessica Gantenbein
Jessica Gantenbein started her position as Lab Manager in November 2023. She is managing and developing current and future teaching activities and materials of the group and is responsible for lab-internal infrastructure and workflows. Further, she provides scientific support in the “restore” research line.
Jessica was born in Rorschach, Switzerland, and received her BSc and MSc degrees in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich in 2016 and 2019, respectively. In 2023, she completed her doctoral degree at RELab. For her master's thesis, she developed and built a wheelchair-mountable arm-supporting device tailored to the specific requirements of an individual user with spinal muscular atrophy. During her time as a doctoral student, Jessica focussed on intention detection strategies for robotic assistive technologies. Further, she was strongly involved in the tenoexo project where she assessed the device's usability in controlled and uncontrolled environments for a spinal cord injured population.
