ICORR & Rehab Week Zurich 2011

From June 27 to July 1, 2011, the Sensory-Motor Systems Lab and the Rehabilitation Engineering Lab of ETH Zurich organized the International Conference on Rehabiliation Robotics (ICORR), for the first time as part of the Rehab Week. Together with the International Neurorehabilitation Symposium (INRS) and the International Conference on Virtual Rehabilitation (ICVR), Rehab Week Zurich brought together over 900 experts with clinical, therapist and engineering backgrounds for an entire week at ETH Zurich, promoting interdisciplinary interaction accross the areas of rehabilitation engineering and science.

ICORR is a biennial international IEEE conference that highlights the latest results from world leading research labs and clinics in the field of rehabilitation robotics. A special focus is on clinical evaluation and promotion of interaction between engineers, clinicians and therapists. The conference also includes patient and caregiver testimonials as well as sessions about standardization of technology, technology transfer, and assessment tools. ICORR 2011 featured 177 peer-reviews paper presentations (talks and posters) and 7 workshops, with a rejection rate of 38%, bringing together 442 attendees with different backgrounds from 57 countries.

ICORR 2011 and Rehab Week Zurich greatly contribued to the strengthening of the rehabilitation robotics community through:

  • the creation of the Rehab Week
  • the foundation of the International Consortium on Rehabilitation Robotics (ICORR)
  • the certification of ICORR contributions for indexing on MEDLINE/PubMed
