Welcome to Monika Zbytniewska
Monika Zbytniewska started her PhD studies at the Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory in August 2018. Her research focuses on the development of medical devices for neurorehabilitation. She is particularly interested in the robotic somatosensory assessment and therapy for stroke patients. Her long-term goal is to bridge the gap between technological advancements and the clinic, contributing to the overall progress within the healthcare sector.
Monika received her MEng degree in Biomedical Engineering from Imperial College London in 2018. During her studies, she worked on multiple human-focused technologies. She took part in the Sports Innovation Challenge project, contributing to the development of an assistive device for Ellie Simpson – a Paralympic athlete with cerebral palsy, representing the GB Paralympic Team in the Club Throwing discipline. Furthermore, Monika designed and manufactured a sensory re-education device for nerve-injury patients, during a semester project with the Human Robotics Group. Finally, she conducted her master’s thesis at the Noninvasive Surgery and Biopsy Laboratory, investigating the application of ultrasound for treating neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s.
