Jaeyong (Jay) Song
Jay Song was born in South Korea in 1989. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sogang University in 2015, where he focused on control system design and mechatronics.
Before he started his Master's degree in BioMechanical Design at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), he worked as a project manager / mechanical engineer for two and half years at Hyundai Engineering in Seoul, South Korea.
During his Master studies, he joined the Sensory-Motor Systems lab (SMS lab), ETH Zürich, in 2018 for an internship where he was involved in development of a force sensor pad to measure contact forces between a scapular orthosis and scapula. After the internship, he continued his study in the lab for his Master’s thesis, where he developed and evaluated actuation system and controllers for a soft exoskeleton (exosuit).
After the thesis, Jay graduated from TU Delft in October 2019 and re-joined the SMS lab as a research-assistant. His main project was to implement controllers and graphical user interface for the rehabilitation exoskeleton (ANYexo) while he also had another project to integrate the sensors on walkers and rollators.
In May 2022, Jay joined the RELab as a research-assistant responsible for maintenance and development for the devices and equipment in the lab.
